You'll find the logistical kind of information that your
travel assistant/driver/mom will need on
this Admissions
Office page.
The Tour:
Honestly, you should come visit. You probably have already
been on a bunch of tours that all blur together in your
memory, but we promise that ours will be different. Most
importantly, it will give you an idea of what the University
of Chicago is really like in a way that the glossiest of
viewbooks or even this website cannot. Our "specially
trained and selected" student tour guides won't tell you
corny and unbelievable stories (unless they're really funny, like that one time we played Text Twist at an 80's-themed frat party--yes, that really happened), won't marvel at how old or
how much money our University has, and won't dress up
non-answers with, "our school is a perfect mix of rigorous
academics, lots of diversity, a relaxed fun environment, and
the curiosity to explore that will shape the friendships and
morals of the future leaders of the world...." You can ask
us about anything and we'll give you a straight answer
(really-ANYTHING--I assure you we've answered more awkward
queries before).
The tour takes an hour and might be the best one of your
whole college process. You don't even need to make a
reservation, just show up any weekday at 10:30 AM (we also
offer a 1:30pm tour from March through November). Afterwards you
can go right into an information session and our admissions
counselors will mollify anyone who might be worried about
average test scores, financial aid, or the quality of the
city water.

have just written.
The Overnight:
For the next level of service, we are pleased to offer you
the chance to stay overnight in a dorm. After all,
well-informed applicants are our future dorm/classmates, so
we'll treat you as such. This overnight stay isn't going to
be a blowoff night which you won't be able to remember
anything about (unless you want it to be). Instead, it's a chance to get a sampling of what U of C kids are like beyond your tour guide and engage in campus activities and the 3AM philosophical debates in the house lounge. Amy and Willa,
our PSAC housing coordinators, will set you up with someone
who has volunteered to host you; they know who does a good
job. While you're on campus, you can do an interview
(although you must schedule in advance for this!), visit
classes, and take a campus tour. We promise to feed you the
best of what our dining halls have to offer, but remember to
bring your sleeping bag! Because this opportunity is so
special, you have to make reservations three weeks in
advance. Overnights are not offered during school
holidays. You can get the details on
this page.
Special Programs on Campus:
The Full Deluxe Package! Not only do you get a chance to do all of the above, but we also throw in class visits, dining hall experiences for your parents, and talks with administrators in every area of student life and academics. When kids tell you that this place just "felt right" to them, they are usually referring to one of these program days. When kids tell you
that this place just "felt right" to them, it was usually
after one of these program days. Class visits, in
particular, were what made many of my friends
immediately realize that UChicago was the place for us. So,
seriously, even if you have taken the tour, come for one of
these program days and say hello. Keep checking
this page
to find our the dates for our program days in the Spring:

"I'll have what she's having."
Yes indeed, the opening scene of When Harry Met Sally... was filmed at the University of Chicago. While you cannot normally drive through the gates leading from the main quads to the Regenstein, the dastardly duo of romance sure did on their cross-country road trip to New York. Who knows, maybe you'll find a girl like Meg Ryan, or a guy like Billy Crystal, too... -Jonathan, 4th year
