Amanda Aisen '08

Chair, PSAC

Political Science

Favorite Core Book: John Stuart Mill, On Liberty

Hi! I'm Amanda Aisen, a fourth year and co-chair of the board. I'm a double major in political science and psychology and I'm originally from the lovely town of Carmel, Indiana. When I'm not PSACing and loitering around the admissions office, you can find me working as a Campus Campaign Coordinator for Teach for america, working with Chicago Youth Programs, volunteering at Comer Children's Hospital, hanging out with my sisters in Delta Gamma, or enjoying a cup of Argo Tea (delicious!!). Other things about me: I have an unlikely love of the White Sox, I'm pretty into the color pink, and I'm generally dressed fairly inappropriately for the weather, so I'm probably cold. After studying abroad last winter, I'm in love with everything PARIS and I'm here for pretty much whatever you need!

Andrew Harwell '08

Chair, PSAC

Fundamentals: Issues and Texts; Germanic Studies

Favorite Core Book: Friedrich Nietzsche The Birth of Tragedy

I'm Andrew, a fourth-year Fundamentals and Germanic Studies double major whose academic obsession with self-delusion spawns from a life spent cultivating alternate (but legal) realities. Concordantly, I love young adult literature, and after having interned with Penguin publishers this summer, I will probably end up there after graduation. If you see me around, holla - I'm told I'm friendly enough...

Sheldon Levy '09

Secretary, PSAC

Sociology

Favorite Core Book: Jamaica Kincaid, A Small Place

Hi!  Howzit Bros? (Hawaiian for how's it going everybody). My name is Sheldon Levy. I am a third year in the college concentrating in Sociology. My real passion is Immigration law and making sure people know what they need to have to travel. (Yes, everyone does need a visa to go to Australia) If you've got an Airline question, I'm your man. O'Hare or Midway; United, American or Southwest, I can tell you about them all. Who gets you where, when, and how fast, and for how little (or how much). And as you can see from my intro, I love the Aloha State. If it has to do with the HI, I'm there. I am PSAC's Secretary. I love the job like a fat kind loves cake. I Love Diana Krall too, and if you don't know who she is, go look her up. She's cooler than Jack Nicholson on his best day.

Ryland Barton '09

RSO Liason, PSAC

English Language and Literature, Interdisciplinary Studies in the Humanities

Favorite Core Book: Voltaire, Candide

Hi'y'all! My name's Ryland! I'm the token Southern Farmer to the SVC (Summer Visit Coordinator) crew, having spent the better part of my high school summers working on a Fescue farm outside of Lexington, KY. After High School, I moved to Chicago, got a mohawk, and became a clown at the University of Chicago. That's right, I study clown theatre with UChicago heroes-and-artists-in-residency 500 Clown. In my free time I play on our competitive Ultimate Frisbee team, Junk, traveling with them to tournaments across the country from Middlebury, VT to Las Vegas, NV. I'm majoring in English and ISHUM!

Jessie Reuteler 10

Volunteer Coordinator, PSAC

Political Science

Favorite Core Book: Aristotle Nichomachian Ethics

So my name is Jessie, and to summarize my life in cocktail-party fashion, I hail from the South (NC Raise Up!), I'm a second year in the Shoreland, and I will major in Political Science someday. Maybe. My general interests include the Core, iced coffee, and school supplies. Here at UChicago, I'm in a sweet all-female a cappella group on campus (affectionately called Men In Drag... which generally leads to a lot of awkward misunderstandings, but whatever), and it is my more immediate goal in life to work in a coffee shop. Finally, I'd like to note that my lovely bio pic is from my own glory days as a prospie. Note the eager anticipation in my innocent eyes--a glow that is preserved today by the beacon of Beauty and Truth that is PSAC.

Amanda Wall '09

Tour Guide Coordinator, PSAC

Political Science and African/African-American Studies

Favorite Core Book: Who Governs?

I enjoy pancakes, studying abroad, the color red, and Mark Buerhle. My favorite thing to do is to run south on Lake Shore Drive, headin' into town (a la Aliotta, Haynes and Jeremiah), and to have panic attacks. Yay! Friend me on facebook!

Emily Moss '10

Communications Director, PSAC

Undecided

Favorite Core Book: Gabriel Garcia Marqeuz, Chronicles of Death Foretold

Hi guys! I'm Emily and I'm a second year in the college. I'm from Massachusetts. I LOVE books! Where I might have gotten some flack for that back home, people here are enthusiastic about learning, passionate about their interests and involved on campus and in the community. In addition to PSAC, I work with a really great elementary school in Hyde Park teaching an after school creative writing program called South Side Scribblers. Other things I love: Barenaked Ladies, root beer floats, crossword puzzles, Clive Owen, cooking, Project Runway, my friends and family.

Amy Estersohn

Housing Coordinator, PSAC

English Language and Literature

Favorite Core Book: St. Augustine, Confessions

My love affair with the U. of C. began in earnest the day my parents forbade me from attending college any further west than Chicago. As a second-year English major, I run a tutoring program, am a member of a literary magazine and a creative writing powwow, and am a cheerleader for the Dodd-Mead House Fightin' Pacifists intramural sports teams. After I graduate, I plan to write a book called "Happier, Thinner, and Smarter in Ten E-Z Steps" and will use the profits to pay for grad school. Eventually, I hope to teach high school English and write The Great American Novel under the pseudonym Cheryl B. Gadfly. My literary influences include Woolf, Milton, and von Ziegesar.

Willa Vail '10

Housing Coordinator

Human Development

Favorite Core Book: Ovid, Metamorphoses

Hi, I'm Willa! I'm from New York City (Manhattan, not Westchester). I'm housing co-coordinator this year, and I get to tell people that damn, it feels good to host a prospie. And to be a prospie. So, when I'm not hanging out in my house, Henderson, I've dabbled in theater with the Classical Entertainment Society and am an avid fan of the Henderson House IM teams; since I went to Quaker school, I have no idea how to play sports or really why anyone's competitive. And no, Quakers aren't the people who don't use electricity...that's the Amish. But I once had a teacher who looked exactly like the Quaker Oats guy, sans hat."

Caroline Ouwerkerk '09

Events Coordinator, PSAC

Anthropology

Favorite Core Book: Max Weber, The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Capitalism

Caroline Ouwerkerk likes pink. And tulips. And pink tulips. She also likes the Netherlands and all things Dutch, because the Netherlands is just full of pink tulips. Though Caroline is Dutch and from Philadelphia, she is not Pennsylvania  Dutch. She likes all things related to the European Union, especially European food. She probably also likes you, too, if you like to talk about Europe or food or pink. Caroline has a weakness for French fries, and in a past life, she went to boarding school in Pennsylvania. When she's not lurking around the admissions office or the University Community Service Center, she's most likely dashing around campus with a cup of coffee in her hand. Caroline serves as the events coordinator on the PSAC board.

Tatenda Mpungu '08

International Coordinator, PSAC

Biological Sciences

Favorite Core Book: Miguel de Cervantes, Don Quixote

I am majoring in Biological Sciences and also working towards getting into Business.  I was born and grew up in Zimbabwe and thus I have had the best teaching concerning international student issues through living the experience.  I love music and I host a radio show on the campus station, WHPK, focusing on African music.  Other interests include reading divinity texts, African politics, soccer, tennis and dancing.

Chibuzo Ezeigbo '10

Diversity Coordinator, PSAC

Biology

Chibuzo Ezeigbo is a 2nd-year biology major from Maryland. Her favorite things to do outside of school are learning how to cook dinners, napping, and tackling opponents during rugby matches. She also loves baking cookies for her friends on their birthdays and having serendipitous moments. Her favorite places in Chicago are the Magnificent Mile, East 57th Street, and the Bean in Millennium Park.

Andrea N. Goldstein '09

Communications Webmistress, PSAC

History

Favorite Core Book: John Stuart Mill, On Liberty

Congratulations, fair prospie! On thy quest thou has discovered the mistress of all things wired on PSAC! Actually, you're just awesome because you've probably ready everyone else's profile and finally got to mine. Anyway, I'm from New York City (went to Trinity for K-12), and LOVE American History and anything from the Ancient Greco-Roman world. Dead languages make me smile. Here on campus, in addition to spending a lot of time sitting at my computer navigating CSS, I play defense for the women's ice hockey team. I'm also in the super sweet coed community service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega. I used to live in May House in Max P East, but now live in an apartment with a cuddly little dachshund named Gehrig. I love: macs, 80's music, David Bowie in Labyrinth, getting tea with my buddies, and spending time with my frat-boy boyfriend. I'm going to be spending Winter Quarter 2008 volunteering in New Delhi, India. I'm so excited! Oh yeah, and I'm on facebook a lot, so as Amanda said, FRIEND ME!
