Dorm Atmosphere
"I love that there are always doors open and there are always people in the lounge. As a Resident Assistant I love Henderson because the people who live here have become my friends, rather than just people I live with and am here to help. It makes my job so much more fun.""The noise level is not bad. The problem is all my friends around distract me from doing my work, but the 11th floor is always a good quiet place to study."
"We watch a lot of movies, and a lot of The West Wing on DVD. We bake sometimes, or go into the city for dinner or shopping or a movie. Sometimes we go to Doc, or to something going on campus like a play, or some sort of event involving free food. Lots of times we'll just order pizza and watch TV and talk, which is always interesting just by itself."
"I have a season theater pass, so I often go to UT plays with a friend of mine from Tufts. Otherwise, it's also great to go downtown with people."
"The only non-study-friendly aspect of this dorm is that everyone is really nice, so it's easy to want to neglect your work and go talk or hang out in the lounge, instead. That said, people do study, either in the study room, in the lounge, or in their rooms. If you want a quiet place to concentrate, it's usually not that hard, and if you have trouble studying in your room, then the library is just a block away."
"The 5th floor of Henderson House is the quiet part, compared to the 6th floor where fun has been resurrected. There is some occasional screaming from playing Halo. Other than that, everything is calm and study-inducing, or sleep-inducing for non-workers. Some people try to go to the library, and that depends on their personality. I can study in my room without any difficulties."
