House Activities

BJ is also known for its intense house rivalries. Each year, the BJ Olympics are held to determine which house is in fact the greatest; it is an event that in years past has held such competitions as a marshmallow eating contest, a dunking contest, and for the guys, a contest involving who can unhook a bra the fastest from standing mannequins. But sense of house loyalty does not stop within BJ, but is maintained through all IM sports and even Scav Hunt.

-- Lauren McPherson, 2nd Year, Class of 2007

I think one of the most underrated perks of BJ is its proximity to the Midway. Almost every Sunday and Wednesday night, a group from our house will run out and play an intense game of ultimate Frisbee. It's a great way to wake you up before a long night of studying.

--Dave Smith, 1st Year, Class of 2008

One of the best house trips I can remember is the one when our RHs took us to Chinatown to get these delicious bubble smoothies and then to watch an incredible performance art piece by Redmoon Theatre that included unbelievable visual effects and stunts with fire.

--Alex Moore, 1st Year, Class of 2008

I can remember a trip during O-Week, that involved playing capture the flag versus another BJ house in the newly -constructed Millenium Park. It was an overwhelming experience to see Chicago's beautiful sculptures in the park while wearing a camouflage bandana and being chased by the RH of Chamberlin.
